The most infamous question on earth: “Are You Okay?”
Hell no. lol.
I’ve always hated being asked that, much less say it. Not because I’m trying to be rude, insensitive or anything, but because I just have a rational idea of what common sense is over whether or not I should actually say it, or want to hear it. Situation+common sense=rationality.
Earlier today at a store I was in, a girl fell on the floor hard. She was semi-conscious (appeared to be having a seizure) and was bleeding profusely from her nose and mouth. I didn’t hesitate to quickly assist her (I’m no medic, but common sense suffices in times like these, among other things)
So then these two women who among the crowd of “Oh my god’s” gathering around suddenly lean over to say “Are you okay” to the girl on the floor.
Are you kidding me?!? She’s having a seizure, bleeding, and losing consciousness…and the best you could do at that moment is ask whether or not she can give you an A-Okay thumbs up.
There’s two of you, both have cellphones, good pairs of lungs and nevermind the fact that they were wearing ‘Faculty of Life Sciences’ tops because the campus is steps away from the mall…
*sigh*
Common Sense.
